Ocean Freight

Container, Container Ship, Port, Logistics

Some forwarders specialize in air freight, while others work exclusively with ocean freight. We provide both!

An ocean freight forwarder specializes in moving freight via cargo ships. This method allows ocean forwarders like us to know precisely how to process any shipment and build strong relationships to get the best ocean rates, which we can then pass on to you, our customers!

Ocean Freight Services

As an ocean forwarder, we know what goods can be shipped, the correct procedures for shipping them, all of the paperwork required for shipping, how to get your cargo on a vessel, and what to do in case something goes wrong.

That means that with the right ocean freight forwarding services, you can be confident that your freight is in good hands while you focus on more important details.

What Are Lift Vans & Shipping Containers?

Port, Container, Export, Cargo, Logistics, Shipping

Stevens International Forwarding is a full-service provider of international relocation services. To that end, we are dedicated to providing the best shipping protection for all different types of goods, whether by land, sea or air.

Our professional movers help ensure that your product or belongings are securely wrapped, packed and loaded safely into our sealed, durable shipping containers.
Stevens International Forwarding offers three different modes of transport:

Lift Vans – For less than container load shipments (LCL), industry-standard new or quality vans are employed. Each wooden crate can hold anywhere from 1,000-1,500+ pounds, depending on the size of your items. Used for international shipping and storage.

Steamship Containers – These types of shipping containers are generally suited for larger shipments over 650 cubic feet.

Air Freight Boxes – Small LCL shipments for those that are looking to reach their destination in a short period of time.

Lift Van Dimensions

A standard lift van is approximately 87 inches by 45 inches by 87 inches, with an estimated 200 cubic feet of loading space.

Note: packing materials take 10-15% of the space.

Container Dimensions

If you have need for larger shipments, it may be more cost effective to ship in a container. Containers are large metal boxes used for international transit. See below for our shipping container sizes:

Rates for lift van and container shipments are generally quoted in flat rates but largely depend upon on the following:

  • Where you or your business is located.
  • Where you or your goods are being shipped.
  • The weight and volume of your shipment.

Note: It’s important for you to clarify the above information when receiving your quote.

How to Pack Your Container

Whether you hire laborers to help wrap, pack and load your items, or you feel like tackling this obstacle with some friends, here are a few tips on how to properly pack your container:

  • Pack your valuables and essentials in a separate box.
  • Labeling boxes makes unloading easy and helps with your inventory checklists.
  • Load heavier goods in smaller boxes or containers to ensure easy lifting.
  • Lightweight items should be placed in large containers, for easier handling and loading.
  • Pack the container full as much as possible, to provide greater protection.
  • Use picture boxes, bubble wrap or any other padding materials when loading pictures and/or mirrors.
  • Do not load all heavy items at once. It will be easier to unload and load your containers if the weight has been evenly distributed.
  • Place heavier items at the bottom and lighter ones at the top.
  • Contact one our professional relocation coordinators for pickup.
